Student Illness Policy

Students will need to be kept home if they have a fever, defined as a temperature of 99.5° or higher. Students must be fever free for at least 12 hours WITHOUT ANY medication before returning to school. Let us know if your child has been diagnosed with a strep infection. Indicators of strep include: sore throat, fever, headache, isolated incident of vomiting, rash on torso. (Please note that any one or more of these combinations are possible.) Also, some children are more likely than others to be infected.

If your child suffers from seasonal allergies, it may be worth a visit to their doctor to see what options are available to make them more comfortable during the day. Children have a difficult time getting their work done when they just don’t feel good. Should there be a need to send medication to school, an Authorization to Administer Medication forms can be found in the folder you received at Orientation. Please note that medication must be brought to the office with the form and the medication must be in the original package. Finally, please send a note in to school if your child has been dosed with ANY medication before coming to school. It helps us to know what is going on should they need to come to the office.
