Inclement Weather Policy

Epiphany will follow Culpeper County Schools for cancellations and delayed openings for the first
two days ONLY following a major weather incident. On the third day, we will not follow the county,
but make our own call. Please listen for closing/delayed openings via www.cancellations.com,
the radio and on the school answering machine. If you do not hear that Epiphany is delayed or
closed, school will begin on time.

School cancellation and delayed opening or early dismissal announcements will be broadcast on the following media outlets:

Source Location
Television Channel 9 (WUSA)
Radio WCVA-1490 AM & C103 FM (Culpeper)
  WJMA (Orange)
  WVCV (Louisa)
WASH, WMZQ, WRC AM, & WTOP AM & FM (Washington, DC)

Announcements will begin as early as 5:30 AM. Parents may also call the WCVA Weather Phone @
825-1490. Once we hear the decision of Culpeper County, we will also post information on www.cancellations.com and update the recording on the school answering machine. Please note that if you reach the CCD office (our roll-over line), call back @ 825-9017 to reach the school office.

If there is a delayed opening, MORNING CARE will also be delayed by the same amount of time.
For example, if there is a one hour delay, morning care will open at 8:15, for a two hour delay at
9:15 am. DO NOT bring children to school until morning care opens.

Please be aware that Culpeper County will may call for a delayed opening to further assess a weather situation and then later determine that schools will be closed. Parents are advised to continue to listen to cancellation updates and respond immediately if school is cancelled.

Preschool parents please note:

  • If there is a 1 hour delayed opening, preschool will also be delayed 1 hour and will be in session from 10:00 until 12:00.
  • If there is a 2 hour delay, preschool is cancelled for the day.

Early dismissals due to serious weather conditions pose particular challenges for our school and
staff. If bad weather begins during the school day, we WILL NOT close if Culpeper County Schools
should decide to dismiss their students early. Instead, Epiphany will announce any early closing
due to inclement weather on the school office phone, post information at www.cancellations.com
and WCVA 1490 AM and C103 FM.

We encourage any parents concerned about driving conditions to come as soon as possible to pick up their child/ren. When serious weather warrants an early closing, Extended Day will be cancelled. We appreciate our parents’ quick response in these situations. Parents are asked to make contingency plans so that, in the event that our facility must close, you may respond quickly in these special and rare circumstances.
